On Veterans Day, we honor and remember the achievements, courage and dedication of the patriots who served our country. Operation Gratitude thanks them for their service because they were called—or they volunteered—to be part of something bigger than themselves.
Veterans Day is an annual opportunity to highlight and honor our former service members; to emphasize the impact of their service on our daily lives; and to honor their selfless sacrifice in duty to others. To mark this occasion, Operation Gratitude is partnering with volunteers nationwide to assemble and deliver over 20,000 Care Packages to Veterans in time for Veterans Day on November 11 and the holiday season.
Since Operation Gratitude was founded in 2003, it has put over 3.5 million care packages into the hands of Veterans, deployed troops and first responders to thank them for their service and remind them that a grateful nation remembers and appreciates them. In addition to the handmade items, games, snacks and hygiene products, every care package includes letters of sincere appreciation written by Americans nationwide. It’s not uncommon for Veterans to cherish these letters, holding onto them for years to come.
Flying the American flag
To further recognize the importance of Veterans Day, we’re displaying 5,000 American flags at headquarters, affectionately called “The FOB” (Forward Operating Base), sponsored by people across the country from now until the week after Veterans Day. The proceeds from this display of flags goes to covering the costs to fill, assemble and ship care packages to Veterans.
It’s not too late to add a flag to Operation Gratitude’s wall of heroes. Just visit https://www.operationgratitude.com/flag-the-fob/.
Today, our troops continue to put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms, and many Americans still bravely raise their hand to serve. They follow in the footsteps of generations of fine Americans… our Veterans.
To those generations of Veterans, and to the Veterans to come, Operation Gratitude will always be grateful. Your service inspires our mission every day. And each day we’re proud to provide opportunities for the American people to express deep gratitude for their sacrifices and commitment to defending honor, duty and country.
