ICYMI: Veterans Day observances, events and discounts

In Case You Missed It: If you haven’t seen this week’s “Veterans Resources” newsletters, then here’s the news you need.

Friday Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. VA Secretary Denis McDonough and Vietnam Veterans of America will host the 69th annual National Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery. We’ll be broadcasting the event on the official VA Facebook page. That ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. ET, and includes Vice President Kamala Harris laying the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The event continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by organizations that serve Veterans, and concludes with remarks from dignitaries. If you don’t have Facebook, you can also view the Arlington National Cemetery ceremonies live.

Local events

If you’re not in Washington, D.C., VA encourages Veterans and their families to attend other local and regional observances and events around the country to honor all Veterans for their service.

VA-recognized Veterans Day observances will be hosted in 33 communities in 25 states, and the District of Columbia. There are local events across the nation, including both in-person and virtually. At those links, you can also find military job fairs, and self-care and financial wellness workshops throughout November for Veterans Month.

Discounts

This is the one that Veterans look forward to each year: The Veterans Day free meals, discounts and offers.

Veterans and their families are encouraged to take advantage of the numerous discounts and promotions available to them across the nation (highlight, copy and paste the text into a Word or text document to print).

Don’t forget!

It’s not Veterans Day related, but while you’re here: VA encourages Veterans and their families to learn more about the newly expanded care and benefits available to them under the SFC Heath Robinson PACT Act, including free and quick toxic exposure screenings and expanded health care enrollment options available now to certain Veterans.
