Our challenge on “Talk About It Tuesday,” the VA Careers weekly LinkedIn Live broadcast, is to explore all the ways you can start a career serving Veterans. But what makes someone choose our mission of service?
If you ask our guests (which we did), the reason they joined our ranks ties directly back to the mission of serving Veterans. They find satisfaction in that work, whether they’re Veterans themselves or they respect the work Veterans have done to serve our country.
“I love that I can take care of our nation’s heroes,” said VA National Nurse Recruiter Eden Picketts.
There’s also a sense of camaraderie that comes from a shared mission of providing the best care to Veterans. When a team comes together with a common goal in mind, they can accomplish something amazing, and who wouldn’t want to be part of that experience?
“That is the best thing, knowing that I have a strong team around me that is committed to the mission,” said La’Toya Prieur, deputy executive director of operations at the Veterans Benefits Administration.
